Community Hospice Named to Newsweek 2026 Healthcare Workplace List

JACKSONVILLE, FL – June 01, 2026 – PRESSADVANTAGE –

Community Hospice & Palliative Care confirmed this month that the organization has been named to Newsweek’s 2026 list of America’s Greatest Midsize Workplaces in Health Care. The Jacksonville-based nonprofit, which serves 16 counties across northeast and north central Florida, received the recognition from Newsweek and research partner Plant-A Insights Group for its workplace culture, employee experience, and operational performance within the health care sector.

The Newsweek 2026 list highlights organizations across the country that demonstrate excellence in employee experience and workplace culture within the health care industry. The list, developed with research partner Plant-A Insights Group, is built from a large-scale employee survey covering tens of thousands of workers, combined with publicly available employer reputation data such as online reviews, employee feedback, and social sentiment analysis. Health care organizations selected for the list represent a small share of the institutions reviewed during the evaluation period, and the recognition is widely cited by job seekers and industry analysts when assessing employer reputations in the sector.

“Our people are at the heart of everything we do,” said Phillip Ward, President and Chief Executive Officer of Community Hospice & Palliative Care. “Being recognized by Newsweek is a significant acknowledgment of the culture our team has built and the compassionate care they provide every day.”

The Newsweek designation follows Community Hospice’s recent recognition as a Great Place to Work, an independent workplace certification based on direct employee feedback. The back-to-back acknowledgments point to a sustained pattern of workplace satisfaction across the organization, which counts more than 1,000 employees and 1,000 volunteers among its workforce.

The recognition builds on a broader pattern of third-party validation for Community Hospice. In 2025, HEALTHCAREfirst named the organization a Hospice Honors Elite program, placing Community Hospice among the top 2 percent of hospices nationwide at the time and making it the only hospice in the state of Florida to receive that designation. The Newsweek workplace ranking reinforces the connection between staff experience and the quality of care families receive.

Newsweek’s workplace awards program has grown to become one of the most-cited employer recognition lists in the United States. The 2026 health care list arrives at a moment when staffing shortages and clinician burnout have become defining challenges across the sector, sharpening the relevance of recognitions that focus on workplace culture and retention.

For families receiving hospice and palliative care, workplace stability inside the provider organization translates into continuity at the bedside. Nurses, social workers, chaplains, and aides who feel supported and stay in their roles longer build the kind of relationships with patients and families that define quality end-of-life care. The Newsweek recognition reflects the conditions that make those relationships possible.

The nonprofit’s workforce of more than 1,000 employees and 1,000 volunteers supports patients and families through the full continuum of advanced-illness care, including symptom management, social work support, chaplaincy services, and bereavement care.
